Introduction
The art of treating itself by essential oils and/or by hydrosols is called aromatherapy. The active ingredients of certain dried aromatic plants or herbs can inhibit or increase the action of certain drugs, it is therefore essential to ask a professional for the opinion before starting a cure for example.
Essential oils

Obtained by water vapor distillation, essential oils concentrate the active ingredients of plants which gives them real power. They are as effective in internal and external use for culinary, therapeutic or cosmetic needs.
The Cabri d'Or is particularly interested in their food use because they bring "pep's" and are provided with many properties: expectorant, circulatory, hyper or hypotensive, invigorating, etc.
For adding in a herbal tea, one drop (not 2 or 3) is necessary which must first be diluted in 1 tsp. honey before mixing it with your infusion. Indeed, essential oil is not soluble in water.
-
Tips for choosing your essential oil
- Choose a pure essential oil
- Choose an essential oil labeled organic - label AB
- Prefer French products (organic constraints can vary depending on the country)
Why are essential oils so expensive?
The price of essential oils stems directly from the manufacturing process. Indeed, a lot of material is necessary for the manufacture of an oil. Thus for 1kg of peppermint essential oil, it will take 150 kg of plant. An essential oil requires material and work, so this is directly affecting the price. Beware of cheap oils.
Essential oils of the golden cabri
The essential oils of the golden cabri are produced on the edge of the Luberon, in Provence by distillation of the plants cultivated and harvested on site in organic farming in order to ensure the good quality of the product. We have 4 different essential oils:
- He of Satureja Montana
- He of Rosmarinus officinalis
- He of Thymus vulgaris linaloliferum
- He of Origanum Vulgare
Hydrosols

Like essential oils, the hydrosol comes from the water vapor distillation of the plants. It is in fact the distilled water containing the active ingredients of plants in lower concentration. Hydrotherapy is called the use of hydrosol.
One of the most interesting advantages is that hydrosols, due to their low concentration, can be used without risk for children or pregnant women, unlike essential oils. Hydrols have interesting properties to drain the body, stimulate the immune system or to relax.
-
How to use hydrosols
- For children, consume 1c. orally diluted in a glass of water or in a lukewarm herbal tea. Indeed, it is preferable to consume cold hydrosols to better preserve the active ingredients of it.
- In cure, you can take 2 to 3 times a day for a month.
- Remember to keep the hydrosols in the refrigerator because they are sensitive to light.
